Cockroaches

Description

Cockroaches are downright pre-historic and dirty. They live everywhere and prefer to feed on the same food that we do. They love to get established in kitchens and bathrooms. Adult German Cockroaches measure around 1/4 to 5/8 inches long and can be easily recognized by the two dark, longitudinal stripes on the "shield" at the front of the body under which the head is located. The German cockroach is the most prolific breeder among all cockroaches and like all cockroaches it is omnivorous and will eat virtually anything.

Challenge

Cockroaches can cause lung irritation, difficulty breathing, and also trigger asthma attacks.

While not normally associated with biting, Cockroaches can and do bite, but it's as carriers of illness and bacteria that they are primarily known. Among illnesses linked to Cockroaches are salmonella poisoning, dysentery and diarrhea.

Cockroaches can arrive in shipping boxes or other delivery packaging. They can stow away in small crevices of electronics, so when carefully inspect items brought into your home.

Prevention

Cockroaches usually live in bathrooms and kitchens - near moisture and food sources. The secret to eradicating cockroaches is to cripple their reproductive cycle and treat to get rid of not only the adults but also their more hardy egg cases.
